Couple Meet & Greet: Porter and Hallie (Originally published 5/07/2012)

We at Southern Elegance Events love our clients. The brides, the grooms, the marketing specialists! So we’ve decided that along with showing you the events we do, and highlighting the vendors we love, we also want to take a moment to introduce the world to our special couples as they come along.

First up is Porter and Hallie (3.30.2013).  You saw Porter and Hallie back in April for their tailgate themed engagement party, but we wanted to give you an opportunity to get to know them a little better, so you can see why their events are the way they are.

Hallie is originally from Big Lake, MN and decided to move to sunny Sarasota a couple years ago.
In the process, she met Porter (a Sarasota native).  He helped her find an apartment and settle into a strange city.  On her first night in town, Porter took her out on a date.  They went to a city favorite restaurant called The Old Salty Dog, followed by a walk down by the water then a walk on the beach.  The night ended with a kiss at the Red Life Guard stand, a true Sarasota date night 🙂

Hallie is one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet.  She’s bubbly and fun, and always wears a smile.  Though only 21, she knows what she wants out of life and will stop at nothing to get it.  Hallie loves crafts, Pinterest and the beach, and makes amazing projects.  She hired us to plan her wedding, but has revealed she hopes to join the company as a event planner next summer (post wedding stress of course).

Porter is a real man’s man.  He loves boating, fishing, working on his car and Florida State Football!  He and Hallie spend their spring Saturdays boating, and their fall Saturdays watching the game with friends.  Porter is one of the most gregarious people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting, and is always good for a laugh.  He’s also one of the most loyal and dependable people, making him a perfect future husband for the trusting and open hearted Hallie.

The couple have 2 dogs, Scout and Tally who are just as energetic as the couple themselves.  Porter and Hallie made sure to tie the dogs into their recent engagement shoot at Selby Gardens in Sarasota:

Now that you know how they met and became a couple, how about the proposal story??

As we mentioned before, Porter and Hallie got engaged 11 days after they caught the bouquet and the garter at a friend’s wedding.

Porter had been teasing Hallie for months about popping the question, knowing how badly she wanted it to happen.  After a fake out a few weeks earlier (he got down on one knee to ask her to a baseball game), he took her out to the beach one night for a moonlight stroll.  When they got there, a couple was on the red lifeguard stand. Hallie kept impatiently checking to see if they had left, so she could relive their first kiss.  After awhile, the couple left and Porter and Hallie climbed up to snuggle and watch the waves. As she was staring out over the beach, Hallie felt a tug on her shirt.  She swatted him away, since Porter is such a joker and always messing with her.  A sharper, more insistent tug followed and she turned to find him down on one knee.  After shouting “this isn’t funny!”  Hallie realized there was a ring in his hand.  There, on Siesta Key Beach, Porter asked Hallie to be his wife with the ring his grandmother once wore.  She said yes, and the ring was a perfect fit!!

Now, we are planning their dream day for March 30th, 2013 and could not be happier to be able to share this with them!

We’re looking forward to sharing more of Porter and Hallie with you as the months go by, and introducing you to a few more special couples!
