Rustic Manatee Riverhouse Wedding

Meghann and Tadd are one of the sweetest couples you can imagine. They came to us in January and really wanted an end of June wedding. Meghann is getting her master’s and just did not have time to deal with all that is involved in wedding planning, and we were happy to help!  They wanted a smaller, rustic wedding that reflected both their tastes and love for each other. It ended up being one of the most fun events ever!

Meghann’s grandparents got married on the same date, so Meghann and Tadd set up an honorary area for them, complete with their marriage certificate!

Meghann and Tadd met when she was out with some girlfriends, and fell down the stairs. Tadd happened to be standing at the bottom, and got her a napkin and sat down with her. They talked and became friends, and then realized they shared the same values, and Tadd asked her to be his girlfriend. The rest is history!!

We picked the Manatee Riverhouse for the venue, with all its exposed wood, river views and rustic charm. Jill & Joe from Jillian Joseph Photography were on hand to capture the day,  and KyleLynn did the hair and make up! Craig from Black Tie DJs had the best playlist going, and we all had a fantastic time!!  The bride’s stepmom made the centerpieces herself. and they fit perfectly with the space and the feel that Meghann and Tadd wanted to have!

Lauren from I Do Ceremonies performed a touching ceremony, perfectly customized to Tadd & Meghann. After Jill captured a few stunning sunset photos, the dancing began! Eat drink and be married is one of our favorite sayings, and it perfectly captures this wedding!!

After some minor issues with the dresses, which Southern Elegance Events was more than happy to help correct, the party got under way!

The pie bar with pies from Yoder’s in Sarasota was a HUGE hit, and there was enough for the vendors to enjoy as well, and believe me, enjoy we did!

As the night wound down, Meghann and Tadd made their grand exit down the dock of the Riverhouse, complete with sparkler send off!  Guests were raving about how much fun they had, and how they did not want the night to end!

Shari and Jonah’s Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay Wedding

June 17, 2013 was a gorgeous, sunny  day and the perfect day for a wedding!! Shari and Jonah contacted us 8 weeks from their wedding date for a full wedding planning package.  We worked hard and planned the entire thing long distance to get  them exactly what they wanted, so they could relax when they flew in from Baltimore a few days before the wedding. jewish wedding, tampa wedding, green and purple wedding. summer weddings Shari and Jonah are Orthodox Jews, and we had such a great time learning about more customs and traditions to help make their day perfect.  They brought in 3 rabbis to help with the ceremony, which, along with the reception was held at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay.  We used the top floor, Armani’s for the ceremony, with the second floor for the bedeken and ketubah signing and the ballroom for the reception.

Michele Rene Hair & Make Up was on hand to make our bride even more gorgeous!

Your Story, By Us Photography and Trinity Wedding Cinema were both on hand the entire day to capture every moment of this momentous occasion, and provided us with all the photos in this blog post. We found a band in Miami specializing in Jewish music, who drove all the way up to make the reception the party it deserved to be!  Shari’s dog Spunky walked down the aisle before her in an adorable outfit, paving the way for our gorgeous bride and her parents to walk down the aisle to her waiting groom.

The chuppah was beautifully decorated by 2BirdsEvents, who also did the wedding party flowers and breathtaking centerpieces.

It was a gorgeous day, filled with religion and significance. It was touching to watch the way Jonah & Shari embraced their day, and how overjoyed their families were to be there with them. The most breathtaking photo of the day came after the wedding itself was over. Shari and Jonah went to a private local beach to spend time together and take some couple’s photos and this is what came from that:

Junkanoo’s Ft. Myers Beach Wedding!

Memorial Day weekend was a busy one for Southern Elegance Events! We had back to back weddings in Ft. Myers and in Sarasota.  The first of these was located on Ft. Myer’s Beach on May 25, 2013.   Jessica and BJ were planning their wedding all the way from St. Louis, and while Jessica had everything under control leading up to the wedding, she really needed someone day of to decorate the room and make sure she enjoyed her day. That’s where we came in!

Jessica and BJ got married on Lover’s Key Beach, then had a reception at Junkanoo’s on the Beach.  Junkanoo is a beach bar with an upstairs room, but it’s not your typical wedding venue.  It does have a great view though, and with a little decorating, it was the perfect setting for their purple and green party!  Jessica had brought all her decorations down and dropped them off, so all we had to do was show up and set everything up!

She had beautiful tulle draping with icicle lights for the dance floor, succulents, sand and candles for the centerpieces and adorable bottles for advice from their guests.

She also had a candy bar of all she and BJ’s favorite candies, in their color scheme with the cutest little bags to take candy home in.

Jessica had ordered custom photo books with covers in their color scheme to grace the tables, and had photos of both their parents for the entrance.

The custom coozies were a hit with the guests, and Jessica even gave us 2 to take home! Every time we use them we remember this gorgeous day, and what a happy and fun loving couple Jessica and BJ are. They were all smiles, all day, and their guests seemed right at home overlooking Ft. Myer’s Beach.

Ca d’Zan Wedding

Last year, we were contacted by Curtis to ask for our help in proposing to his girlfriend, Lizzie.  We organized some surprise time off work for her, and a beachside proposal surrounded by friends.  After the engagement, Lizzie immediately asked for our help in planning their June 2013 wedding.  The date was set for June 1st, and they chose the gorgeous Ca D’Zan Mansion at the Ringling Museum in Sarasota as their ceremony and reception venue. Curtis eventually decided he’d like our help planning the rehearsal dinner at the Chart House Restaurant on Longboat Key as well.  After a year of planning, the weekend came around, rainy and humid but filled with joy and excitement.  Lizzie and Curtis were, and are, one of our favorite couples and we are thrilled to now call them friends as well.  The photos taken by the amazing Imely Photography are below, along with some of our own, and we’ll let them speak (mostly) for themselves.

The grounds provide amazing details

The entire event was originally set up outdoors, but as the rains began to pour 20 minutes before the start of the ceremony, everything got moved under our tent.  Luckily, the clouds parted long enough for the guests to enjoy cocktail hour on the terrace with a tour of the mansion, and for Curtis and Lizzie to get some amazing shots around the grounds of the mansion.

Palm Aire Country Club Military Wedding

Back on December 29th, we did a gorgeous military, country club wedding for an amazing couple, Monica and Jon.  They were one of the most genuinely in love couples we’ve ever met, and their family and friends were just as amazing as they are!

All photos in this post by aka photographs.navy wedding, country club, sarasota fl, wedding planning

They got married with a 4pm ceremony at one of our favorite locations, Palm Aire Country Club. In a short but sweet ceremony, they said I Do in front of 120 people.

As the sunset over the golf course, we snapped photos of the in love couple and their closest friends. The temperature was dropping, so we rushed through some photos and got inside for cocktail hour!

The decor was done in gorgeous navy blues and whites, with sparkly lights on the tables.  Everything about this wedding was elegant and beautiful, and it was one of our favorites we’ve done.  We want to thank Monica and Jon again for having us, and wish them all the happiest in their life together!

Dress Shopping with Hallie (originally published May 15th,2012)

Hi again bloggers!

In May, we had the genuinely enjoyable experience of going wedding dress shopping with one of our brides, Hallie.  Her mom and sister were in town from MN, so she wanted to pick out her gown with their help.

We, along with Hallie, her family and another bride, all went over to David’s Bridal in Tampa for the day.

David’s was packed busy, but all of the staff was super friendly and helpful! We got Hallie into a room and into her first pick dress.

Obviously, no pictures of Hallie in her dresses, but here’s a dress I just loved in the store:

The first one was a huge hit with family and friends alike.  Hallie even teared up a little.

The dress consultant brought over a few more, and while they were gorgeous, you could tell they just didn’t do it for Hallie.  With a wistful expression on her face each time, she’d say “it’s pretty but…” until finally we put her back in dress number 1.  Her face lit up and she nodded her approval.  Everyone agreed that dress 1 was the dress for Hallie.
The consultant helped Hallie to the stage, she made her wish and rang the bell.  The whole store clapped, and then we took pictures.

Dress purchased celebration!

After Hallie had decided, she had her girls try on a few dresses as well, and even that was quick and painless. A cute strapless number for the Maid and Matron of Honor, and a chiffon knee length dress for the other 4 bridesmaids.  Hallie definitely has a great sense of style, and will have an amazingly dressed wedding party for sure!

All in all, Hallie’s dress shopping was a relatively painless experience. The only time we’ve been dress shopping so far was for our own wedding, and that was not nearly as enjoyable.

Hallie is a girl who knows what she wants, and knows when she finds it.  and her dress was below budget, leaving room for some adorable accessories!!  David’s Bridal did a great job accommodating Hallie’s group of 6, and even though the store was busy, everyone had a great time.  The store just had an air of genuinely liking to help brides, and all the other brides were friendly and supportive as well.  I really don’t know how it could have gone any better.  So there you go, a quick peek into the dress buying experience for one bride.  The dream experience every girl wishes she can/will have.

on the way to the dress store!

Southern Elegance Events is looking forward to more projects with Hallie, as well as more dress shopping with other brides in the future :)
